Job Description

IMPORTANT: Candidates residing in Hawaii or Alaska preferred due to time zone differences with Maryland.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Tier 1 NOC (Network Operations Center) Technician to join our night shift team, working from 10:30 PM to 7:30 AM EST. In this vital role, you will serve as the first line of support for our IT infrastructure, ensuring network stability, security, and performance around the clock. Your energetic approach will help maintain seamless connectivity for our clients and internal teams, troubleshooting issues swiftly and efficiently. The ideal candidate must have prior experience working in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment and be proficient with core MSP tools used for monitoring, management, reporting, and support operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor client systems, networks, backups, and infrastructure using MSP monitoring tools (e.g., Datto RMM, Auvik, Liongard.).
  • Respond to alerts, investigate incidents, and take corrective actions or escalate based on SLA and severity.
  • Perform daily system health checks, backup verification, and generate operational reports.
  • Manage and resolve service tickets through PSA systems (e.g., Autotask.).
  • Apply patches, updates, and routine maintenance tasks on servers, workstations, and network equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams regarding issue status and resolution updates.
  • Document actions taken, maintain accurate logs, and follow standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in an MSP environment (NOC or Service Desk preferred).
  • Strong understanding of MSP tools such as:
  • RMM Platforms: Datto RMM, ConnectWise Automate, Kaseya, N-able, NinjaOne, etc.
  • PSA Platforms: Autotask, ConnectWise Manage, etc.
  • Monitoring Systems, Backup Solutions (Datto, Veeam, Acronis, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ticketing workflows, escalation processes, and SLA-based support.
  • Solid knowledge of Windows Server/Workstation, Active Directory, DHCP/DNS, Microsoft 365, and basic networking (VPN, firewalls, switches).
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently and work with minimal supervision during night shifts.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity tools (EDR, MDR, SIEM platforms).
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+/Security+, Microsoft, or equivalent are a plus.

Shift Details:

  • Shift Time: 10:30 PM – 7:30 AM EST
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday (adjust if weekends or rotating shifts apply)
  • 1-hour break included (subject to Tier 1 support requirements)
